Resolving Karmically Related Health Problems There are three steps to follow: 1. Learn your lessons. You need to determine the cause and correct it. Make reparations to the extent that you can. For instance, if you determine that your neck spasms were caused in part because you were a "pain in the neck" to your parents when you were growing up, you need to make amends for your actions. You might begin by sincerely apologizing to them and asking for forgiveness. If you've stolen something, begin by making restitution.
2. Practice the law of forgiveness. If you intend to seek forgiveness for some past action or inaction, you need to practice forgiveness with others who may have hurt you. As it is written in Matthew 6: 14: "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you." This step might include releasing any grudges you hold against someone who wronged or hurt you. Forgiveness has a powerful cleansing effect on the front and back solar plexus chakras. Some people hold so much anger and resentment in these chakras that without forgiveness, no matter how much these chakras are cleansed, they generate the dirty energy again. 3. Practice the law of mercy. In order to develop your spiritual muscles and demonstrate humility, you must be merciful and tolerant in your current personal interactions. In Matthew 5: 7, we read: "Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy." This step might include being less harsh and judgmental in your general dealings with people. These steps to atone for or "work out" bad karma should be done directly, if possible. If you've hurt someone, apologize in person if you can. Similarly, if you've stolen something, make restitution to the person from whom you've stolen if you can. Direct restitution isn't always possible, however. Perhaps the person you hurt or stole from is dead, or you've lost contact with them. If so, you can also perform these steps symbolically. For instance, simply invoke, perform several cycles of pranic breathing, picture the person you wronged in front of you, and express a sincere apology for your actions. You can take the same figurative steps in releasing a grudge or hard feelings against people. You can also work out karma for theft by making a donation to a charitable organization. Finally, while many emphasize the "negative" or "punishment" aspect of the law of karma, there is a better and more positive way to view it: as a means to build the future you want. When you fully understand the implications of the law of karma, you are empowered. You realize you can take action to create new "causes" or "seeds" in your physical, psychological, spiritual— and even financial— life, and reap the "effects" of the seeds that you sow.
Tithing An especially powerful method of utilizing the law of karma to improve your life, and a very effective way to neutralize negative karma, is tithing. In its strict dictionary definition, tithing means giving a tenth of one's earnings to the church. In a more general sense, however, it means contributing whatever amount of money you can to good and worthy causes. The esoteric principle behind tithing stems from the law of karma: "You reap what you sow." As you give generously of yourself and your resources, that generosity will be returned to you in kind. If you view your karma as your "cosmic financial statement," you might say that tithing gives you a way to build up a "positive balance." If you donate $ 100 to a charity, at some point in the future $ 100 in good karma credit or value will return to you. This karmic credit may take the form of money, success in some venture, good health for you or your family, general good luck, or something else of comparable value that you may need or want
